Taco Soup

This has always been a favorite soup of mine.  This is my Mom's recipe.

1 lb. ground beef
1/2 c. chopped onion
3 c. water (or use tomato juice--which makes it more flavorful)
2 (26 oz.) cans stewed tomatoes (I prefer using diced tomatoes)
2 (16 oz.) cans kidney beans, undrained
1 (16 oz.) can tomato sauce
1 pkg. taco seasoning mix
avacado, cheddar cheese, sour cream, corn chips for garnishing

Brown beef and onion; drain.  Add water (or tomato juice), stewed (or diced) tomatoes, beans, tomato sauce and taco seasoning.  Simmer for 15 minutes.  Add toppings.
