Buttermilk Syrup

When Dad took Kaleigh on her 12 yr. old trip to Southern California they stayed with Keith and Joanna Allred. They loved the "special syrup" she served and now it is requested for special occasion breakfasts!

1/2 cup buttermilk
1 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 Tablesp. light corn syrup

Bring to a boil and remove from heat and then add:

1 teasp. baking soda
1 teasp. vanilla
sprinkle of cinnamon if desired.

Be sure to prepare this in a 2 quart pan or larger as it foams up when the baking soda is added.
